The Alan Tyler Show

The Alan Tyler Show

Alan Tyler is back at Red Rooster with a newly published book and a show to go with it. His much talked about memoir, How To Never Have A Hit: the confessions of an unsuccessful singer songwriter, tells his story from DIY punk beginnings to the present day, and he and his band will be playing highlights from his entire music career, interspersed with some readings from the book.

Alan first broke through with The Rockingbirds, the Wrangler-clad troublemakers who upended the early '90s Camden indie scene with their love of twangy guitars and soaring harmony vocals and an unabashed adoration of Gram Parsons, The Byrds, Elvis and Waylon Jennings. Ten years before that he was writing and singing swingy pop in Soho nightspots and tap dancing in West End subways, and in more recent times he has dabbled in folk and even electronica, always with a delicate and uniquely British lyrical touch. Expect all this and more at high noon on the main stage on Saturday.

He'll also be co-hosting the Shack Stage on Friday with Big Steve Arlene, showcasing singers from their legendary and long-running monthly live music event, Come Down And Meet The Folks.
