ROB CORCORAN & THE NECESSARY EVILS
LITTLE RED ROOSTER STAGE

Dublin troubadour Rob Corcoran and his band The Necessary Evils are a much-loved fixture on London’s roots scene and beyond. With a self‑penned repertoire full of lyrically compelling, beautifully observed songs that can shift effortlessly from "heart‑on‑sleeve" to "laugh‑out‑loud", they’ve been captivating UK audiences for over a decade.
Rob cites American greats such as John Prine and Townes Van Zandt among his songwriting heroes, yet his own work is steeped in Celtic soul — delivered with a diction and turn of phrase unmistakably distilled in Dublin.
The band features musicians from the USA, Poland, Dublin, London, and England’s northeast — several of whom will be familiar faces to UK roots and Americana audiences.
Corcoran’s songwriting has drawn wide acclaim, including from Irish folk legend Christy Moore, who recorded — and regularly performs — Rob’s best‑known song, “Ringing That Bell.”
“This man can surely sing, and he has a great band behind him. He says some things that need to be said.”
— Christy Moore
“I implore you to check him out, don’t let me down… this guy is special.”
— Americana UK (9/10)
“From the moment he steps on stage, Corcoran perspires authenticity in that fluent way that a hundred record execs have tried and failed to manufacture.”
— Deb Grant, BBC Radio 6 Music
