LASSIE

Lassie are Emily Winng (UK) and Camille Dávila (USA), together they bring dark Lynchian psychedelic-folk laced with tribal-punk, filtered through lilting melodies and hard-hitting harmonies.

Each of these artists on their own commands attention, and while each have found themselves with a more esoteric audience when playing solo, together they offer something for everyone.  Winng brings an untamed ferocious strength with her shock-red Medusa hair and powerful drumming, while Dávila’s sleek persona simmers under her retro-styled erratic guitar playing. When their voices join, their sibling-like harmonic vocal blend is something hard to believe and stops listeners in their tracks.

Their musical live set is varied, both stylistically and theatrically.  Lassie gigs have the listener stomping to unhinged country while songs of wild horses serenade with soaring guitar and floor tom as the driving force.  

Faster-paced songs are bookended by slow, hypnotic reverb-rich ballads.  Lyrically, a vast array of topics are covered, from fairy-tale, animal-based folklore to dark thespian verse. Influences summoned but not limited to: The Slits, The Roaches, The Talking Heads and Syd Barrett.
