William The Conqueror
Cornwall trio William the Conqueror head to Red Rooster for the first time, having picking up praise from far flung corners. J.D. Wilkes (Legendary Shack Shakers)
Nashville’s JD Wilkes is perhaps best known as the founder of the Legendary Shack Shakers, whose fans include Stephen King, Robert Plant and former Dead Kennedys frontman Jello Biafra. JD Wilkes is an American musician, visual artist, author, filmmaker and self-proclaimed “southern surrealist”.
Birds of Chicago
Birds of Chicago join us for 2019, playing a sparse and ethereal mix of country and blues built around the magical chemistry of Allison Russell and JT Nero.
Storytelling is something of a Texas tradition. Tall hats and even taller tales are woven into the fabric of The Lone Star State, and singer-songwriter, Jarrod Dickenson can spin a yarn with the best of them.
Powersolo enjoy great respect on the international rock and roll scene, where words like cult and legendary are often used when the band is mentioned. Powersolo has also been collaborating with Chicago Fortune Records, Motown and Norton Records living legend; Andre “Mr Rhythm” Williams and served as backing band for Jon Spencer (Heavy Trash, The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion)
John J Presley
Growing up in the West Midlands, this was where began to play and tread the boards in various line ups before stepping out directly under his own name. Citing influences from Son House to Mogwai, Alice Coltrane to Nick Cave; The Dirty Three to Duke Garwood, he has developed his own unique sound and forged his own path. Tone, valve amps and pedals are his penchant – an area he now works in at a professional level when not on the road or in the studio.
James & The Ultrasounds
If you haven’t yet heard James and the Ultrasounds, or seen them live…Do yourself a favour and strap in…Brash, yet thoughtful with unpredictable guitars, soulful organ and pummelling, yet danceable, Memphis-Style rhythm. The four piece rock and roll band is the brainchild of James Godwin, a long-standing face in the Memphis music scene.
Blues, honky tonk, and melancholic country probably aren’t the first things people anywhere would associate with the mountains of Austria. But that is exactly what the audience can expect when Chris Comper hits the stage as Prinz Grizzley.
